Radio Sidney and the Sidney Community Association are hosting a public panel discussion on Sidney’s economy and economic development focusing on “What are Sidney’s objectives for economic development?” and “What is the municipality’s vs. business’ role in economic development?”.
The public are welcome to attend and there will be a question period
Panelists:
David Calveley (former chair of Sidney’s Economic Development Commission)
John Juricic (spokesperson for the Sidney-North Saanich Industrial Group),
Hal Irwin (from Phillbrook’s Boatyard),
Muffet Billyard-Leake (from Muffet &Louisa).
Dennis Carlson (municipal planner for Colwood) will also talk about relevant experience from Colwood’s recent OCP review.
This topic is timely because Council is considering requests to fund 3 economic initiatives, reviewing the role of its Economic Development Commission, and the upcoming OCP review will likely address Sidney’s economy and economic development.
